V2ICP (Vehicle to Infrastructure Communication Protocol)

A VDV 261-defined protocol for exchanging operational parameters between an e-bus and a backend system via ISO 15118 Value Added Services.

Last updated: 2025-12-23

Technical Details

V2ICP runs over an ISO 15118-secured setup using TLS and IPv6, typically leveraging the ISO 15118 “InternetAccess” Value Added Service for HTTPS communication. It defines request/response behaviors (e.g., sequence handling and non-empty responses) and uses “SNA” placeholder values for unavailable parameters to keep the interface predictable.

Fleet Applications

Enables standardized vehicle↔backend coordination for depot workflows such as readiness checks and preconditioning commands, helping avoid proprietary integrations between buses, chargers, and depot management systems.
