OCPI 2.2.1 (Open Charge Point Interface)
Roaming interoperability protocol for exchanging charging network data (locations, tariffs, tokens, sessions, commands, and charge detail records) between CPOs, eMSPs, hubs, and multi-role platforms.
Technical Details
OCPI 2.2 introduced message routing to better support hub-based topologies and platforms that host multiple market roles. OCPI 2.2.1 keeps the same protocol concepts while clarifying documentation and operational procedures such as credential updates (PUT to the credentials endpoint triggers endpoint refresh and can switch versions), token rotation when compromised, and routing patterns (broadcast push vs open routing requests).
Fleet Applications
Reduces partner-integration effort for roaming by supporting hub-based connectivity and platform-to-platform exchanges, helping fleets access broader charging coverage and consistent location/tariff data across regions. Improves operational reliability through clear credential lifecycle and endpoint update procedures.
